Nail-Down and Glue-Down Installation

Nail-down installation is the traditional method for solid hardwood over a wood subfloor. Each board is fastened down, which gives a solid floor underfoot and one that can be sanded and refinished several times over its life.

Where a room sits on a concrete slab, such as a finished basement or a room over the garage, engineered plank is glued down instead. It copes with the moisture a slab gives off far better than solid wood, and with a thick wear layer it can still be refinished later.

Sand and Finish Refinishing

Many Alpharetta homes built in the 1990s and 2000s still have their original oak floors, and they are usually worth saving. We sand back to bare wood, repair damaged boards, then apply the stain and finish you choose.

Refinishing costs far less than a new floor and takes only a few days. We use dust-containment equipment so you can stay in the house while we work, and we can do one room at a time if that suits you better. Ask for a free on-site estimate.

Acclimation

Wood moves with the humidity in your home. Once the store delivers your flooring, it needs to sit in the rooms where it will be laid for a few days so it settles at the moisture level of the house. We will tell you when to book the delivery so the wood is ready on installation day.

Tear-Out & Subfloor Preparation

We lift the old floor, then check the subfloor for movement, squeaks and level, and put right what we find before any new boards go down. Dust barriers keep the rest of your home clean while we work.

Installation

We lay the boards so the pattern runs the right way for the room and the joints are staggered properly. If your floor is being finished on site, we then sand it, apply the stain you chose, and build up the protective coats.

Clean-Up

We refit the baseboards and thresholds, vacuum through, and take all the waste away with us. You get a finished floor and a clean house on the same day.
