Nail-Down and Glue-Down Installation

Nail-down installation is the traditional method for solid hardwood over a wood subfloor, which covers most Marietta homes. Every board is fixed to the subfloor, so the floor stays quiet underfoot and has enough thickness to be sanded back and recoated more than once in its life.

Where a room sits on concrete, such as a basement, a converted porch or a slab-built ranch, engineered plank is glued down instead. It handles the moisture a slab gives off far better than solid wood, and a thick wear layer can still be sanded later.

Sand and Finish Refinishing

A lot of Marietta homes have wood under the carpet that nobody has looked at in years. If the boards are sound, a sand and finish costs a fraction of a new floor and often uncovers better wood than anything you would buy today.

Acclimation

Wood moves with the humidity in your home. Once the store delivers your flooring, it needs a few days sitting in the rooms where it will be laid so it settles before we fasten anything down. We will tell you when to book the delivery so the wood is ready on installation day.

Tear-Out & Subfloor Preparation

We lift the old floor, then check the subfloor for movement, squeaks and level and put right what we find. In the older houses around town that often means refastening boards; in a slab-built ranch it usually means leveling. Sheeting across the doorways keeps dust out of the rooms you are still using.

Installation

We plan the direction the boards run to suit the room, and space the end joints so no two sit in line. If the floor is being finished on site, we sand it, apply the stain you chose and build up the protective coats once everything is down.

Clean-Up

We refit the baseboards and thresholds, vacuum through, and take all the waste back to the shop with us, leaving the rooms ready to use.
